Merry Christmas !!!

The birth of the King of Kings: Matthew 1: 24-25 & 2:1-12.

Dear friends:

Merry Christmas !

Presidents and Kings are not always born into rich families, mostly they don`t . Great people are not very often  born by prominent parents. Just go back into history, you will see.
However, very few , even among the great men, had a birth, humble like the birth of Jesus.
There was no room for him in ordinary lodgings, far away from home, in an unfriendly surrounding.
What would the world have wanted to call Jesus if they had a choice: Traveller, I guess ! His mother was traveling when she gave birth.

Born among sheep, goats and cows. Yes, may be he was born like some of our people.Let me read to you from 2 Cor ch 8v9 : “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that by his poverty you might become rich.”

Jesus was rich, yes, he was heir of all the riches in heaven. He was a King, yes a King over a kingdom which will last forever. Still, he humbled himself and became like you. In order that you and me would have no excuse by saying that Jesus came only for the rich, the well to do, for the white people.
Jesus was not western, although many have drawn his image as if he was white. He must have been brown, he was a middle east jew. Some people in the west indies make pilgrimage to Ethiopia to worship the black Messaiah: Ras Safari. The former emperor Haile Sellasie, believing he is coming back to save the black men. But there  is no other Messiah. When you look at the world map, we find that the middle east is somehow the middle of the world, where east, west and south meet. Israel, a land occupied by Romans, poor, despised. This is the place God chooses for the birth place of his Son. Listen to what the Lord said to Moses about why he chose the Israelites :

“For you are a people holy to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for his own possession, out of all the peoples that are on the face of the earth. It was not because you were more in number than any other people that the LORD set his love upon you and chose you, for you were the fewest of all peoples; but it is because the LORD loves you, and is keeping the oath which he swore to your fathers “

Immanueal : God together with us. He came to earth and became poor so that we should become rich. He shared our living conditions. He was tried in everything. Hunger, loneliness, abuse, contempt, violence, torture. You name it, he had to taste it all.

Then, God made him guilty for all our sins and he had to pay the price, which you and me ought  to pay.
Praise God. I am glad this christmas to know him as my personal saviour. I hope you are too.
If not ? What a perfect day to welcome him into your heart: The Bible says:
"And to all those who received him, he gave the power to become children of God."

Amen.
